Introduction
With her careful, controlled disposition, Ianthe keeps everything hidden behind her cool exterior. After all, her emotion always seemed to lead to her downfall back at home, and the outside world hadn't proven itself different to her yet. While a part of her longs to be close to others, she's shut others out long before her bid to escape and stay free, relying solely on her wits and booksmarts to keep herself alive, safe, and healthy.
Personality
Calm and collected at first glance, Ianthe is not one to let anything slip behind her mask. It would've led only to bad things in the past, and even if she's made it out she knows better than to crack now, of all times.
But in reality, while Ianthe is every bit as calculating and thoughtful as she appears, when around those she trusts she has a very expressive, vibrant nature, as well as a playful mischief and a fierce loyalty to those she loves.
Backstory
Early Life
For the first few years of Ianthe's life, she was happy. Her parents were strict, but as she was a child they were lenient enough for her to not be bothered too much. Every so often, they would take her to the spooky section of the courtyard and they would just talk. The conversations there were strange, but they never seemed to get the answer they were looking for...
Childhood
After Ianthe's sister, Faye, was born, their parents begun to pay more attention to the younger sister. This Ianthe didn't mind so much, even if it was annoying that she wasn't allowed to go in the room anymore. But soon enough, Faye began showing promise with her magic, and everything changed. Instead of just being ignored every so often, Ianthe was outright shunned, banned to the library to study whenever her parents saw her and there was no company over. And when she was allowed out, she would have to be perfect, a statue of a human being. Any outburst or flaw was swiftly punished. Ianthe's father seemed to disagree with this at times, but would often just go right back to enforcing it within a few hours.
On her 16th birthday, after escaping into the courtyard, Ianthe accidentally unlocked her magic, and this realization gave her a choice. Reveal this to her parents, who may accept her, or use it to run and leave this place behind. At midnight, she had made up her mind to escape, but on her way out Faye caught her and ratted her out. Using her magic to make it out to the front, she was forced into a confrontation with her parents, one that ended in a broken wrist for her father and a broken neck for her mother.
Running
Ianthe hadn't stopped running since that night. Time after time again, she found herself having to escape people hired by her parents' company, the one that Faye is the heir to. During her time running, she found out her little stunt had killed her mother, and that her little sister won't stop until she's taken down.
